FREECANDY.tv & theMFK.net present THE REAL WAVY ART SHOW SHOW - featuring performances by Asaad, music by East Village Radio’s own Jerry Jones, and a wild amount of other ridiculously waved-up amazingness.
The Real Wavy Art Show Show was created as a reintroduction to FreeCandy as a mixed use experiential art space and media platform, as well as an introduction to the artists we have selected within several mediums (Art, Music, Film, Design) that have found ways to reinterpret their respective genres or d
efine entirely new ones.
It is a hybrid art exhibit/live music show/dance party spreading awareness for GO, an open studio exhibit by the Brooklyn Museum, as well as other open studio exhibits in and around Brooklyn, NY.
Our artists and space were not available during the registration period, so we are creating our own event to bring awareness to the GO exhibit, the artists participating in the project, and the artists our space champions - including those currently in residence at FreeCandy. Our space’s mission is to identify and highlight emerging young talent by creating an environment for them to create, develop, and display. Proceeds will go towards materials and equipment for the artists’ upcoming fall exhibits and shows at MoCada and FreeCandy. For more information, including press and donation inquiries, please contact us at email@example.com.
GO, is a dope project. Basically, On September 8th and 9th between 11:00am and 7:00pm, Brooklyn-based artists will be opening their work spaces to the public. Community members are able to register as voters and then nominate artists in the project to be included in a group exhibition that will open at the Brooklyn Museum on December 1st.
So that’s the cause but, like everything else in 2012, we decided it might be a little more interesting to see how it would be chopped, screwed, and waved up. Trill-GO? GO-Trap? Anyways, we joined forces with the originator of Trillwave, The MFK, to put together a lineup of some of most interesting up-and-coming artists that are about that wave-life for the performances and installations, and one of the best traphouse DJ’s in New York city for the afterparty. Supporting the arts doesn’t have to be a dull night out. It can actually be quite trippy…mane. Check the .gif!
